The Sheep’s Pen

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend and my husband and I are going to our annual church couple’s dinner at an elegant dining facility dressed in our fanciful best!  I’m sure it will be a lovely event.

But, Ed and I celebrated Valentine’s Day a little less orthodox this year.  You see, he asked for a very special gift.  He asked for a BLOG.

Yes – you read right – a BLOG!

Now, my husband is a career bookseller.

He does things the old fashioned way – minimum electronics and high tech as far as he can get away with it.  Creating and navigating a blog – well – one needs more than a minimum of computer savvy.  He manages his way around the retail computers at work alright, but creating and maintaining a blog is quite a different matter.  He needs – a secretary.

Ed’s wish this Valentine’s week could not come true apart from his loving wife taking the little dream he shared – and running with it – straight to Blogger!  Together, we have just spent the most delightful few hours creating his beautiful web presence where he now has a platform for his pages and pages of journaling devotional thoughts gleaned in his personal Bible studies – and most notably since his recent work related accident which put him out and recovering for two and a half months!  It was during that time that he . . . well . . . why don’t you visit him by clicking here at THE SHEEP’S PEN and find out for yourself!

I can’t be more delighted to welcome my dear one to Blogland – something else we two can share – the Lord watching between he and me we are so blessed and hope together we might be a blessing!

A truly romantic way to spend the day creating together in Blogland – and topping it off with dinner and dancing tonight!

  3. Kathy, you did a marvelous job setting up your honey’s blog. A blessing! I wish my husband liked the computer, but he doesn’t…and his Parkinson’s would make it difficult anyway.
Happy Valentine’s Day. Have a wonderful dinner, and consider your work of love for your husband and the Lord well done!
    Ruth

  4. Hi Kathy,

Congratulations to you and your husband — how exciting!! My husband had to set my blog up for me, but I have to say, I’ve learned a lot and am teaching myself a lot about the process. I think he’s kind of proud of me. I don’t have to ask for help very often now.

I imagine blogging will bring your husband much satisfaction, and I hope you both enjoy your evening of dining and dancing! Happy Pink Saturday!

    Denise

The sheep’s pen…a great name. I will check it out.
Thank you so much for sharing your touching story, and sharing these pictures of vintage valentines. The one with stacks of books is my favorite.

  11. Oh how fun!!

This is so exciting! I’m heading over there right now and check Ed out. Wait, that didn’t sound quite right!! You know what I mean.

I wish I could get my husband to understand ANYTHING about computers. He should have been born in 1854 – he’s such a mountain man. The most he can do is carry my laptop!

    GOD BLESS!

Miss you – how’s Constellation Academy going??

  12. Oh Miss Kathy…a true gift of the heart for your sweet husband. A generous gift indeed.
    Happy Valentine’s Day!
    Lady Linda

  13. Miss Kathy,
    In reply to your question:
No I do not home school. When my oldest, now 10 started kindergarten I thought about it, then decided to go the Christian school route, but finally it worked out that public school was the option for our family {we live down the street from a very nice little elementary school} Still praying that God will show us what to do when middle school and high school rolls around cuz that is a whole different ball of wax. Your helping with home schooling moms and their children sounds like such a wonderful and rewarding job/service.
    Cheers,
    Leah

  14. Kathy, I think Ed’s blog is going to be a great blessing!
