Doing some blog reading this pre-4th of July weekend, and I stopped by Debbie’s Words of Wheels – Land that I Love. Her thoughts were mine exactly – and I knew this was the day the Lord had made to re-post my July 4th post from last year. It was a collection of history – HIS STORY in a plethora of primary source quotes of our Founding Fathers noting that – indeed – we did not form this nation looking narcissistically into a mirror – but, in a unified belief that because God first loved us, we should love others – and conduct a national government accordingly.
To be sure, we have often fallen woefully short in that lofty goal – but, that is to be expected by fallen mankind. Whatever goodness and glories we have known have come via the Grace of God when we have humbled ourselves to acknowledge Him in our ways.
So, by way of remembrance without even the shadow of the currently popular political correctness that continues to pervert the author’s original intents – here – in their own words:
Note: Some of the wonderful patriotic vintage graphics above came from the The Graphics Fairy – she’s digital magic!
