Five-Minute Friday: Joy

I’ve seen this link-up for a couple years. I’ve been amazed and inspired by writers boldly going where I fear to tread:

Writing on a topic within a time limit.

For someone as loquacious and detail oriented as me, this is a fearful place, indeed. However – today’s word has caught me right where I live: JOY!

It is my signature word, you see. I have closed my correspondence with it for years ~

It is an exercise of purpose.

There are many things that assail me throughout the day that would threaten to steal my Joy. Far too many things to keep me in the Land of Melancholy where Joy is shadowed by the black clouds of Fear and Doubt. Where the “What-if’s” of life nip at my heels and sometimes shock the Joy right out of me.

But, really?

His Presence is mine forever more! He will never leave me or forsake me! HE IS MY JOY!

What care I for those black clouds when He is the silver lining of JOY in all things.

Yes . . . I am surrounded with reminders to Take Joy – ever present in my home – on the walls . . .

In my tea cabinet . . .

And, in the eyes of my cat who takes joy in the mundane heap of scarves on the bed . . .

That remind me to . . .

WHEW! Did I do it?? Did I actually STOP??

Does it count that I have to add a couple pictures that will take at least ten minutes to pull up or process?

In the end – JOY is far more than FIVE MINUTES on a Friday. I’m praying it is your constant companion today- every minute of the day – as I link in for the first time with Lisa Jo at Five Minute Fridays.

  1. So glad you joined us today! Thank you for this beautiful reminder that joy is a choice. It’s something that I have to remind myself of often, and you expressed it so wonderfully.

  2. Wow, I could feel a huge wave of joy as I entered your website! And the photos have truly added to the reverie here. What a great way to spread joy, by writing, publishing and sharing at Lisa Jo’s! I will, indeed, have to take a deeper look around your place – thanks so much for sharing 🙂

  3. Made it over her Miss Kathy! Lovely post and I love how your blog has become so you. I get to meet up with my Tasha Tudor friends in VT this coming May, so had to put getting a new computer on hold. When I recover from my trip, I hope to get a computer soon. I so want to redo my blog, but need to wait for better equipment!
I’m not quite sure I know how to join in with the fun you have planned.
    Much love,
