Cat Talk: You Don’t Belong There

Five Minute Friday writing prompt: BELONG

“You don’t belong there.” I say to my cat, sweeping him gently off the counter.

“You don’t belong there!” I shout at my cat, knocking him swiftly off the manuscript papers I just spent hours organizing on my desk.

“You don’t belong there . . . “ I sigh to my cat as I painstakingly pull him from behind the dresser where he somehow got caught.

“You belong here – my sweet.” I stroke the kitty on my lap, cuddling him ever so close. “This is a good place for you. Here, with me. Just enjoying my presence. Your human mommy who loves you and takes good care of you.”

And, how might my cat respond to that?

Perhaps, as I ought to respond during lap time with God – He who cares for me  – to whom I belong . . .

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT

Not a bad trade-off for counter-tops, desk-tops and tight spots behind dressers.

cat quote

[Tweet “Living in the presence of my God. To whom I belong. Rightly responding on a lap, much loved.”]

Taking joy this day in Him to whom I belong and praying the same for you with a thankful heart!
