Sparkle On!

Been working this month. How about you?

Oh, the mornings have been tough. My fault, really. I’ve been staying up way too late and my body clock is all off. Stress levels in the last couple months of 2014 seeped into these first couple weeks of 2015.

But, I have become wiser for it. The fix is in! I’m getting my calm on–with a splash of sparkle along the way.

And–a little inspiration from my gorgeous daughter on Christmas day certainly helped. Ain’t she sweet?

That’s her a couple of years back, before moving out and into her joyful marriage in a home of her own.

Our living arrangements may have changed, but our hearts remain tied to one another in mother/daughter love.

How well she knows her mommy.

So, it was no surprise when she gifted me with a new tea mug this past Christmas. Yes, she knows I love my tea and that I like a nice big mug with a lid for daily sipping. However, it was the specific mug she blessed me with that I knew was a Divine Word meant for me in my new year.

Keep Calm, Sparkle, pink, china mug,

Photographed here on my desk, surrounded by a bit of whimsy (my pink-haired flower fairy) and latest thrifting find in the background (yet another word to live by in 2015: LAUGH), I keep it close at hand each day.

I love the raised sparkly pink stripes and the change of font on the word, “sparkle”! It is a china mug and when I fill it with warm tea it is the coziest treat to clasp between the palms of my hands.

My girl knows I’ve been weathering some stress.

She has, too.

Haven’t we all?

When our carefree days of childhood dissolve into the rigors and responsibilities of grown-up life, stress fractures happen. In their season. Sometimes more. Sometimes less.

Always to a higher purpose.

That’s why I love my tea mug and two words on it in particular: KEEP CALM.

I hear my Lord whispering those words, followed by Scripture verses calling me to the same.

KEEP CALM. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27

And then, admonishing me to SPARKLE!

No–not just exist. Not just get by. And, certainly not to hide.

SPARKLE! Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

This is what 2015 beckons for me as I’ve hatched out of my shell to grow into greater things, making my dream to publish my books come true.

Mother Chicken's Eggs, Fable Springs Parables, Grow into Greater Things

January is swiftly coming to a close. Time to launch into this new year with calm, resolve, and lots of sparkle to the purposes God has grown in me.

What purposes has God grown in YOU?

Stress comes with birth and new growth. It’s a good thing. Something my daughter and I are pondering in our hearts.

Tell me: How have you learned to SPARKLE this New Year through the gift of stress fractures and God’s call to calm?
