Psalm 10 for the Nation: A Call to Prayer

America is counting down to the most historical election since the first Continental Congress voted to declare their independence from the tyrannical overreach of the English government on July 4, 1776.

At that time, thirteen colonies and less than 60 individuals cast their vote. This year, multiple millions of Americans in 50 states will do so. I pray the Lord’s protection over each LEGAL vote at national polls that have been muddied by corruption and fraud.

God works through men and nations His will and purposes to be done. This volatile process is the ways and means afforded us to elect a new president.

There are TWO stark futures at stake:

  • Will we honor our Founding Father’s vision for our nation and vote to retore and steward the Judeo-Christian American freedoms, strength, morality, values, justice, and “of the people-by the people-for the people” national culture once delivered to us at such a great cost?
  • Will wickedness in high places that has wormed its way into our governmental structures prevail in their deceitful and treasonous practices against our populace, to supplant “of the people-by the people-for the people” liberty for the slavery of a totalitarian socialist regime?

Please don’t think I exaggerate. I do not.

A great war in the heavenlies is raging over the battles we fight here in this material earth. We are wise to understand what sort of enemy is on our doorsteps and make use of God’s weapons of warfare to push back the darkness. We are a broken people. God will not despise His Bride’s broken and contrite heart turned towards Him.

[Tweet “PRAY FERVENTLY–God have mercy on our nation of sinners!”]

We seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, calling on the mercies of God to heal our land.

Boldly speak truth ~ Expose the darkness!

Shine the light of Biblical worldview truths in all facets of this present political conversation, in every arena of your life. Are you tired of the rhetoric on social media?

Yeah, so am I.

But, I daresay soldiers on battlefields in the heat of the fight are pretty weary, too. Yet they ENGAGE the enemy. Should they desert the field because the messiness of it all is too overwhelming, their cause will be lost. To be sure, war is not a Sunday School picnic. Do we trust our General in the fray?

Get informed on the real story!

Don’t settle for getting your news from those who’ve sold out to the enemy’s intelligence committee and spin doctors. They may be mainstream, but their waters have been polluted. There is a lot of truth they are working overtime to hide and distract away from the real issues with their red herrings. (BTW–Did you know that the term “spin doctor” did not appear in our lexicon until the Clinton administration?)

Find the Joshua’s and Caleb’s who will tell it like it really is. They’re out there and their lives are on the line!

Understand the season in history you are living through!

In the late 1980’s, as a new Christian, I was blessed to be discipled by a dear older woman named Jonelle Wallenchak. I expect she is with the Lord now. In those days, when she served our church as the director of Women’s Ministries, she felt a great burden to prepare us to understand and defend the faith. She talked of how we needed to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might and light, for there were dark days coming in about–and she called it–30 YEARS!

I remember her describing what those days would be like. In my mind’s eye I saw a great map of the world and an encroaching darkness covering it–starting in the middle east, through Europe and then onto our shores. She said it would be like nothing we’d ever seen before and we must be strong in our faith to face it.

As a young gal in my mid-20’s, safely living through the Reagan years, I couldn’t imagine such a thing happening in our country at the time. I thought we’d seen a lot of darkness already since the rebellions of the 1960’s some 20 years earlier.

Well, what she described 30 YEARS AGO looks very much like what I’m seeing exploding on the earth now–including the world map being covered with this migration of dark forces and violent terrorism. Not to mention the complete loss of sense and reason on the moral compass front.

Perilous times have come, indeed.

Rant on the Red, White, and Blue

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power.

2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 NKJV

During those early years of mentoring in my faith, the foundations of Ephesians 6 were laid in my heart:

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Ephesians 6:10-20

Get off the bench!

Psalm 10 for the Nation: A Call to Prayer

I believe this is a critical season for Christians and our nation. We have a dual citizenship in Heaven and on this earth that we are called to steward, as unto the Lord on both fronts, until the He comes or takes us to Himself. Not a one of us ought to think they are doing right by sitting this one out on the bench with a “que serra, serra ~ whatever will be will be” because God is in control anyway.

OH! I am weary.

But, I will write. Whether or not anyone reads a word of it.

I will be wise in what I share on social media. And I will pray. Daily. Without ceasing. Specifically. Because I will remain informed, even though I can’t stand the weight of the messiness and stench of the morass filling each day as November 8th inches ever closer.

I think Lady Liberty and the Bride have slept far too long allowing far too many strongholds to be overtaken in the system. Our salt was not sprinkled generously enough, perhaps. We put baskets over our light on key battle fronts within our culture. We became the proverbial frog boiling in the pot, unaware that it was slowly dying.

May we turn to God and cry out for His tender mercies in this time of need. And, may we take comfort in knowing that we are living in the aftermath of the CROSS and the GRACE of God poured out there in Christ Jesus. His blood is powerful to cover us and redeem us–as individuals and as a nation.

I believe this. Do you?

I have been praying through some of the Psalms and will be sharing them with you over the next few weeks. Will you join me?

O Lord, why do you stand so far away?
Why do you hide when I am in trouble?
The wicked arrogantly hunt down the poor.
Let them be caught in the evil they plan for others.
For they brag about their evil desires;
they praise the greedy and curse the Lord.

The wicked are too proud to seek God.
They seem to think that God is dead.
Yet they succeed in everything they do.
They do not see your punishment awaiting them.
They sneer at all their enemies.
They think, “Nothing bad will ever happen to us!
We will be free of trouble forever!”

Their mouths are full of cursing, lies, and threats.
Trouble and evil are on the tips of their tongues.
They lurk in ambush in the villages,
    waiting to murder innocent people.
They are always searching for helpless victims.
Like lions crouched in hiding,
they wait to pounce on the helpless.
Like hunters they capture the helpless
and drag them away in nets.
Their helpless victims are crushed;
they fall beneath the strength of the wicked.
The wicked think, “God isn’t watching us!
He has closed his eyes and won’t even see what we do!”

Arise, O Lord!
    Punish the wicked, O God!
    Do not ignore the helpless!
Why do the wicked get away with despising God?
They think, “God will never call us to account.”
But you see the trouble and grief they cause.
You take note of it and punish them.
The helpless put their trust in you.
    You defend the orphans.

Break the arms of these wicked, evil people!
Go after them until the last one is destroyed.
The Lord is king forever and ever!
The godless nations will vanish from the land.
Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless.
Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed,
so mere people can no longer terrify them.
